Torrin's Hoard: Coming Soon
Recently my friend Rody Villegas (owner and founder of Zanni Theatrics) had an amazing idea:
A booth at the Irwindale Renaissance Faire that sold books.
We are both huge fans of our local Ren Faire, but we two writers/fantasy enjoyers noticed a distinct (and let’s be honest, disturbing) lack of books! And we thought, hey, we’re two creative individuals who enjoy taking on unrealistically large projects! Why don’t we give this one a shot?
And that is how Torrin’s Hoard was born!
Well…born might be a bit of a stretch. At the moment, this project is in its earliest stages. We need authors who are willing to contribute books. We need to design our booth. We still need to get the booth space for goodness sake!
Luckily, we have until next year to coordinate and find people just as excited about this crazy idea as we are!
We’re looking for Writers Who:
- Are Self-Published
- Are Willing and Able to Do Book Signings in Person
The Details
Sound interesting to you? Here’s all the details you need to know about participating in Torrin’s Hoard.
As I said, we’re looking to celebrate indie authors (i.e., self-published authors) who might otherwise have a hard time getting their books out there.
Here’s how the booth will work: if we approve you, mail us 10 copies of your novel and ten business cards (or other promo material of your choosing to be handed out with your books). We will stock them in our booth and keep track of how many we sell.
After the Ren Faire, we will electronically send you the all proceeds from your books and return any unsold copies through the US postal service.
I repeat, we will work on consignment exclusively. But rest assured all money from sales will go back to you, in addition to the copies we didn’t sell (so you can use them for other events).
Anyone approved for our booth can also apply to do an in-person signing. We will treat it like special event programming. This application is mostly for scheduling purposes. If you were approved for entry into our booth, you’ll likely get approval for an in-person signing.
The live appearance is not mandatory to join our booth.
That said, I highly encourage anyone who is able to come to SoCal and meet your audience! Connecting with people is one of the most important parts of our business (and I think one of the most fun too)!
Torrin’s Hoard is still in its conceptual stages, so news may be sparse while we work out the details. But stay tuned for the deadlines for applications to have your book added and applications for an In-Person Signing!
If you’re a writer who wants to apply or even a bibliophile interested in following the development of Torrin’s Hoard, feel free to join our discord: Torrin’s Lair!
